Step 4: Sprinkle diced tomatoes and sliced black olives over the lettuce and cheese.

Tips and Tricks

Keep moisture out of the taco dip by spinning the chopped lettuce in a salad spinner, deseeding the tomatoes, and draining the sliced black olives thoroughly. These steps will ensure the taco dip stays fresh for leftovers.

Double for a 9x13-inch glass baking pan. This works great to easily cover and transport to a party. Don’t forget the tortilla chips!

FAQs

What if I don’t like cottage cheese?

After blending the cottage cheese, it will not resemble anything like cottage cheese. Try it and see for yourself.

Can I use lactose-free cottage cheese?

Absolutely! For a lactose-free alternative, opt for lactose-free cottage cheese. This also applies to both sour cream and cottage cheese options.

Can I leave off the black olives?

Absolutely! If olives or any of the toppings aren’t your favorites, feel free to leave them out and replace them with something you enjoy! Taco dip is super versatile and can be customized to your taste.

Can I make taco dip in advance?

Make the creamy cottage cheese base in advance. Then, add the fresh toppings right before serving.

Storing

Store: Keep taco dip covered and in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The fresh vegetables will start to wilt.

Freeze: I do not recommend freezing taco dip. The fresh ingredients will not fare well. It is such an easy dip to make. Just make a fresh batch!

What To Serve With Taco Dip

This taco dip is a favorite at work parties, family get-togethers, and potlucks. It is also great as part of a taco bar, served alongside all the taco fixings. For a hearty option, add a bowl of slow cooker taco soup. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese, 4% milkfat (Note 1)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (Note 2)
  • ½ cup sour cream

  • Tortilla Chips for dipping

Instructions

  • In a large food processor or blender, add the cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning. Blend until smooth.
  • In a 9-inch pie plate or a large platter, evenly spread the cottage cheese mixture.
  • Next add the chopped lettuce and shredded cheese in an even layer.
  • Next, add chopped tomatoes and well-drained black olives.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Enjoy with tortilla chips or fresh veggies.

Notes

Note 1: If you want to use a low fat or a fat-free cottage cheese, it will work. However, it will not be as creamy.
Note 2: Use a lower-fat cream cheese if wanted. No need to soften the cream cheese. The food processor will blend it.
Storage: Keep taco dip covered and in the refrigerator. It will last up to four days, but the fresh vegetables will start to wilt.
